PNG Post Courier- Pang To Defend CFC World Title

Adrian cfc standover smPNG-Born Chinese and Cage Fighting mixed martial arts World lightweight champion Adrian “The Hunter” Pang is preparing for the defence of his lightweight title when he meets Brazilian Jiu Jitsu expert Bernardo Trekko.
The “Hunter’s” fight is one of three World Title fights which will kick start the 2010 Cage Fighting Championship series in Australia. It is billed as the biggest event CFC has staged and will feature Australia’s most talented fighters.
The fight is scheduled for March 12 at the Hordern Pavilion, Moore Park in Sydney.
“I am currently in really hard and intense training for this fight as championship bouts are contested over 5×5 minute rounds,” Pang said by email.
He said he was really hoping to visit PNG again very soon.
“I have a very busy schedule with fighting this year and am constantly getting offered more bouts. However, I love to get away to PNG whenever I have time, even for just a couple of weeks to see my dad and wantoks.” the Hunter said.
He said he was more than willing to train PNG fighters in MMA as it was the ultimate martial art where only specific techniques really worked as opposed to some of the questionable martial arts being taught.
“I have several student in PNG now that I have trainede for many years — Daniel Kawa and Justine Pamena are well hearsed in Chinese Kung Fu and Mixet Martial Arts (MMA), Pang said.
He said his current fight schedule which was basically in Australia, but also took him to Hong Kong, Japan, New Zealand and Thailand.
Asked if he was thinking of Europe and the USA, he said, “ I’m not sure if Europe would be profitable enough for me but the USA would be a great leap for me to test my skills against some of the world’s greatest fighters. Also the prizefighting money in the USA is very lucrative,” Pang told the Post-Courier.
He also had this to say to his family, friends and supporters,
“ Thank you to PNG for my roots and all your on-going support. To my father who ahs instilled a disciplined hard work rate in me and all my boys form Timbur squad Kopex, ENBP — mi no lus ting ting long yupela!”
